Grays Harbor County BOCC Announces New County Administrator

Sam Kim has been announced as the new County Administrator.

Montesano, WA – August 5, 2024 – The Grays Harbor County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Kim as the new County Administrator. Kim brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to public service, making him an excellent addition to our county’s leadership team.

 

Mr. Kim has an extensive background in both government and the private sector. He has held senior executive positions at Washington County, Santa Clara County, Clark County, and most recently, the Washington State Employment Security Department. His leadership experience is complemented by his time as a U.S. Navy officer and his service as a commissioned sheriff’s reserve deputy and planning commissioner. Additionally, he has served 16 years as an elected official, which has given him a broad perspective on public administration and governance.

 

Mr. Kim’s academic credentials are equally impressive. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington. He is also PMP, ITIL, and CPIM certified, showcasing his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

 

Throughout his career, Mr. Kim has demonstrated a remarkable ability to lead and transform organizations. He has a proven track record of enhancing organizational efficiency, fostering high-performance cultures, and implementing strategic initiatives. His personal mission statement, “Help others be kind and compassionate while doing their very best and leading fulfilling & meaningful lives,” reflects his dedication to servant leadership and community service.

 

In his new role, Sam Kim will be responsible for managing the county’s operations, implementing strategic policies, and working closely with the Board of County Commissioners to achieve the county’s goals and enhance service delivery to the community. He will also oversee the coordination of county departments, ensuring efficient and effective governance.
