Multiple Agencies Rescue Stranded Boater

Using GPS from the phone, rescuers got to the boater about two hours after the initial text message for help.

The Pacific County Sheriff’s office is crediting multiple first responder agencies for rescuing a stranded boater this past weekend. A press release from the sheriff department says the person’s boat sank Saturday afternoon and they could only text with their phone. As rescuers were searching, dispatchers received a message saying the boat had sank about 3 miles up Smith Creek off SR 105 and they had climbed up to a logging road. Using GPS from the phone, rescuers got to the boater about two hours after the initial text message for help.
