Pacific Seafood – Westport Will Pay Just Over $92,000 For Violations

The state first assessed fines of $123,000 for the 49 violations where the company allowed high than normal sewage waste to be released into Half Moon Bay.

Pacific Seafood – Westport will pay just over $92,000 in a settlement with the Department of Ecology over dozens of water quality violations between the spring of 2020 and the fall of 2021.   The state first assessed fines of $123,000 for the 49 violations where the company allowed high than normal sewage waste to be released into Half Moon Bay. The company also did not monitor wastewater discharges as required in its permit.  In the settlement, the company agrees to be compliant with its wastewater permits for one year.  If there is a violation within the year, the company will have to pay the full amount of the original fine.  All penalty payments go to the state’s Coastal Protection Fund.
