Tsunami Evacuation Tower Coming To Westport

A new tsunami evacuation tower is coming to Westport thanks to a $15.2 million federal grant spearheaded by city officials and the mitigation section of the Washington Emergency Management Division. The city of Westport expects the vertical evacuation structure to become a multi-use facility, potentially providing opportunities for special events and year-round use. The total cost of the project is $16.7 million with the remaining funds coming from The City of Westport and the Washington Emergency Management It will become the state’s third such structure following the tower in Tokeland and the structure at the Ocosta School District.
