17-hour Standoff With Hoquiam Police Ends Peacefully

The call came into police just before 5pm on Tuesday about an incident on Queets Ave.

A 17-hour standoff with police in Hoquiam has ended peacefully.  The call came into police just before 5pm on Tuesday about an incident on Queets Ave. That turned out to be an armed juvenile barricaded inside a home. Hoquiam police, along with assistance from several agencies blocked off the surrounding area before establishing contact and beginning negotiations.  There were reports of four other people inside that home that were able to get out.  The underaged person surrendered to officer just before 11am yesterday. Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Meyers issued a public statement thanking all the agencies involved in resolving this situation peacefully as well as nearby residents for their patients and understanding.
