Once completed, this project will dramatically reduce driver confusion and conflicts at this intersection.
Improvements to the Market Street and F Street intersection are one step closer to reality with construction beginning the week of April 18, 2022. Through the competitive bidding process which began in January, the City of Aberdeen awarded the construction project to Rognlin’s Inc. in March. Project funding is provided principally through Federal and State grants managed by the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board with less than eight (8) percent of the construction cost being funded by the City of Aberdeen.
Project improvements consist of removal of the existing traffic signals, reconstruction of the roadway surface, installation of stormwater conveyance and treatment, installation of new curbing and sidewalks, textured concrete paving, and a new illumination system.
Initial traffic impacts will be observed with the full closure of Fuller Way as well as North F Street and South F Street adjacent to Market Street. For this initial phase of work, Market Street between E Streets and G Streets will be reduced to one lane each direction. The second phase of work, anticipated to begin in July, will result in a full closure of Market Street in addition to the other closures already in place. This configuration is anticipated to remain in place with signed detours around the work area until October when the project is scheduled for completion.
