DOT To Fix Hillside On State Route 109 Outside Hoquiam Early Next Year

The Washington department of Transportation says crews will go to work to fix the hillside on State Route 109 outside Hoquiam in early 2023.

The Washington department of Transportation says crews will go to work to fix the hillside on State Route 109 outside Hoquiam in early 2023.  About a 1 mile stretch of 109 has been plagued with mud and debris slides for years.  WSDOT says workers will leave some of the tree roots in place to help stabilize the soil. Once crews go to work on the repairs, 109 will need to be closed off.  There will be signs for the 101 detour.  The $500,000 project will take about 2 weeks once it gets started and a total closure of the road will help to remove all the debris.  The state will announce the exact dates after the first of the year.
