More Taxes Called "Fees" Confusing Consumers/Angering Retailer

Some officials are suggesting the fee could be given a different name on sales slips to avoid confusion.

It’s called the Spirits Fee and it’s causing some confusion to consumers. In an article in the U.S. Sun, it is reported that the fee is really a tax imposed on alcohol which are considered spirits. In the article, it has an example of White Claw beverages which have about 5 percent alcohol, and the state considers the beverage a spirit. Some retailers are facing angry customers about the Spirits Fee. Some officials are suggesting the fee could be given a different name on sales slips to avoid confusion.
