Pacific County Sheriff’s Office Improves Case Closure Rate

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office is working diligently to balance responding to calls and closing cases, despite being stretched thin with only 13 deputies and two sergeants.

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office is working diligently to balance responding to calls and closing cases, despite being stretched thin with only 13 deputies and two sergeants. In an open letter to the county on social media, Sheriff Garcia said deputies must juggle investigative tasks, while addressing new calls, which creates a cycle of growing workload. Although the agency has improved its case closure rate, low staffing levels pose risks to both the community and law enforcement. To address these challenges, the Sheriff’s Office has requested funding for two additional patrol deputies and two corrections deputies in 2025.
