A Railroad Train “quiet zone” could be coming to Aberdeen. At this week’s meeting, city council members decided to have staff look into creating a quiet zone for train horns in town. The Federal Railroad Administration does allow towns to create those no horn zones , but there are requirements for the town, including active warning devices at every highway railroad crossing within a designated quiet zone. Trains could still sound horns in an emergency. City Staff will also look at the cost of implementing a quiet zone.
