City of Aberdeen Moving Forward For Junction City Homeless Village

Following a 6-6 vote Wednesday night, Mayor Orr cast the tie breaking vote in favor of submitting a proposal to the county.

The City of Aberdeen will move forward with a proposal to purchase land for a homeless shelter following a packed city council meeting this week. Following a 6-6 vote Wednesday night, Mayor Orr cast the tie breaking vote in favor of submitting a proposal to the county to purchase a 4-acre piece of property in Junction City to be used as a long-term homeless shelter. The city has $200,000 set aside for the purchase that would see about 100 small huts set up to house homeless adults. The proposal will have Junction City annexed into the Aberdeen city limits if the purchase goes through.
