City of Hoquiam Taking Comments On FEMA’s North Shore Levee West Project Plan

The project would consist of just over 5 miles of levees, concrete flood wall and elevated roads along the west side of Hoquiam.  

The City of Hoquiam has put out a public notice and is taking comments on FEMA’s plan for the North Shore Levee West Project. The project would consist of just over 5 miles of levees, concrete flood wall and elevated roads along the west side of Hoquiam.   This would include the downtown business district and the project is intended reduce the risk of flooding to the protected area.  FEMA is proposing to funs the levee through a BRIC grant program as well as the Disaster Recovery Reform Act. The city will hold an in-person public open house on June 22, from 4pm to 6pm at the Hoquiam City Hall.
