Three years after it was first announced, the City of Westport was able to finally hold a ceremony for being named an official U.S. Coast Guard city. Westport was named the 28th Coast Guard city back on Sept. 30, 2019, but due to the Coronavirus, the ceremony had to be put on hold. That event happened over the Memorial Day weekend at the Westport Maritime Museum. Members of the Coast Guard Sector Columbia River and Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor joined in the ceremony this past Saturday. Since the Grays Harbor Lighthouse was established, Westport has held an annual dinner for the crew members.
