Community Voice Concern Over Young Street Bridge

The community came out this week to the Aberdeen City council meeting where the topic of discussion was the Young Street Bridge.

The community came out this week to the Aberdeen City council meeting where the topic of discussion was the Young Street Bridge. What’s better known as Kurt’s Bridge to many, the city says the Young Street is in bad shape and needs to be replaced. $25 million in federal funds have been secured to build a new bridge but many residents say the bridge, made famous by Nirvana frontman and Aberdeen native Kurt Cobain, is now a part of the town's history and needs to be saved. One option presented Wednesday was to memorialize the bridge and move forward with replacing the structure. No final decision came from this week’s meeting, but all signs point to a compromise.
