Rising gas prices are to blame.
The Hoquiam Police Department wants to remind you that as the price of gasoline goes up, so does the chances of gasoline theft. Police officials are saying that with gas prices at record highs comes the real potential for crooks to steal gasoline, right out of your car sometimes. Police advise anyone who can to get a locking gas cap. Even then, they add its best to park your vehicle in a well-lit area. So far there are no reports of this kind of theft but if you see a suspicious person around your neighborhood, or someone walking with a gas can and a cut up piece of garden hose, you’re asked to contact police so they can investigate.
