Republican state Senator Jeff Wilson and Democratic state Senator Manka Dhingra introduced SB 5001 earlier this week. The bill would implement permanent standard time in Washington state. A similar bill failed to gain any traction this year. State lawmakers passed a law in 2019 to implement permanent daylight saving time, but that law cannot go into effect unless Congress approves a federal policy.
