Fireworks and driftwood may have been the causes.
The recent burn bans do not mean there is no fire danger as the Hoquiam Fire Department spent part of their weekend fighting two fires, one was a wildland fire that might have been caused by fireworks and the other was a fire that started with driftwood. The Ocean Shores Fire Department spent part of last week fighting a dune fire. Fire Chief Brian Ritter told The Daily World Dune that the fires were difficult because of winds causing them to grow quickly. The cause of the fire is unknown.
