11-year-old Rescued By Coast Guard Friday Afternoon

The boys father said they were playing in about 4 feet of water when a wave knocked them down.

An 11-year-old boy was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard Friday afternoon when him and his family were swept off a jetty in Ocean Shores and the boy was pulled out by a rip current. a press release says it happened about 3:50pm Friday afternoon when a bystander called 911 saying a group of people had been swept out to sea by a rip current.  Everyone expected the boy was able to make it back to land.  Ocean Shores PD and fire department responded as did the Coast guard.  A coast guard rescue boat pulled the boy from the water and despite treading water for around thirty minutes, he was reported to be conscious and alert and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.  The boys father said they were playing in about 4 feet of water when a wave knocked them down.
