Coast Guard Issues Proposal For 6 Heavy Weather Boats

The proposal, available for public review until Jan. 20, includes four active vessels and two maintenance hulls.

The Coast Guard has issued a proposal to design and produce up to six heavy weather boats to replace its retired 52-foot fleet. One of the new vessels will be stationed at Grays Harbor in Westport, with others deployed to key Pacific Northwest locations for extreme weather search and rescue missions. The proposal, available for public review until Jan. 20, includes four active vessels and two maintenance hulls, each with a 25-year operational lifespan.
