National Night Out, an annual community-based campaign to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie returns to Aberdeen Tuesday, August 1, 2023.. Traditionally, NNO events have spanned the community with events and get-togethers sponsored by neighborhoods, faith groups, and other community organizations. National Night Out began in 1984 and involved 2.5 million residents in 400 communities across 23 states. Today it is a national event celebrated in most states and in U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday of August. The event promotes police-community relations through face-to-face communications.
