Ordinance Change In Aberdeen Allowing Mayor To Ban Fireworks Passed By Council Unanimously

The public comment period and 2nd reading will happen at the next city council meeting.

The first reading of the proposed ordinance change in Aberdeen to allow the mayor to put a fireworks ban in place during dangerous weather conditions was passed by council unanimously.  At Wednesday’s meeting, the current rule change would allow the mayor to ban the discharge of fireworks, but not the sale.  The mayor would consult with the national weather service along with other state and local leaders including the fire marshal to determine when to put fireworks ban in place.  The public comment period and 2nd reading will happen at the next city council meeting.
