State Fire Marshal Reminding Grays Harbor/Pacific County To Voyage Responsibly

Nationally 6% of boating accidents resulted from fires onboard.

As the summer boating season continues, the Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding Grays Harbor and Pacific County residents to voyage responsibly and safely.  According to a 2020 report by the US Coast Guard nationally 6% of boating accidents resulted from fires onboard with 2.2% of those fire incidents occurring in Washington State.  Officials encourage you to inspect electrical wiring, and battery-charging equipment to ensure proper installation and have appropriate fire extinguishers and make sure that they are easily and readily accessible.
